Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine tells Dan Patrick his first meeting with the man he replaced, Terry Francona, was more uncomfortable for Tito than for him.
"I think it was uncomfortable the first night [Francona broadcast a Red Sox game for ESPN]," Valentine said on Patrick's radio show. "I don't think he's comfortable being in a shirt and tie in a baseball environment and I was pretty comfortable being in the costume and being in a baseball environment."
Valentine and Francona swapped jobs over the winter. Francona left as manager of the Red Sox to become an analyst for ESPN's "Sunday Night Baseball," a job Valentine had held before he was named as Francona's replacement.
