Evanescence, Green Day, Tokio Hotel, My Chemical Romance: Musical March Madness Final Four!

After three weeks of battles, one of these four will take home the MMM title; voting in all Final Four matchups is now open!
By James Montgomery

Well, that was intense. After 48 hours of epic Elite Eight battles, we've reached the Final Four of MTV's Musical March Madness. And while making it this far is certainly an accomplishment, there's not exactly a whole lot of time to sit around and savor it.

That's because voting in our Final Four matchups is already under way, and polls will remain open until Sunday (April 1) at midnight ET. You've carried your favorite band to the cusp of championship glory, but can you help push them over the top?

Vote for your favorite band, discuss and share on Facebook and Twitter in the MTV Musical March Madness interactive bracket!

Let's take a look at the four bands still standing in MMM: true, tourney-tested squads that have survived three weeks of brutal back-and-forth battles just to make it to this point. In a way, they're all champions; too bad only one will actually be able to call themselves that.

#5 My Chemical Romance vs. #5 Green Day My Chem are the champions of the Midwest region, having survived a furious rally from upset-minded Metallica in the Elite Eight (seriously, with more than 600,000 votes cast, MCR won by 400). Meanwhile, defending MMM champs Green Day had to stage a serious comeback of their own against Adam Lambert, who led until late Thursday before succumbing to GD's full-court press. At this point of the tournament, there truly are no easy matchups, and this one, well, it's going to be a war. Both bands have been put through the wringer, and both know how to win a close contest; can My Chemical Romance finally take home the MMM title (they've been in the Final Four three consecutive years), or will Green Day make history as the first band to repeat as champions? All we can do is wait and see ...

#1 Evanescence vs. #12 Tokio Hotel Speaking of history: Congratulations to Evanescence, the first #1 seed to make the MMM Final Four. They've battled hard throughout the tournament, having bested tough foes like Paramore, Linkin Park and Dave Matthews Band just to reach this point. As a reward, they draw perhaps the toughest opponent in the entire field: Tokio Hotel, a band that's steamrolled their way through the competition. They've throttled all challengers and even got revenge (big time) against rivals Coheed and Cambria in the Elite Eight. No two bands have enjoyed as much fan support in MMM 2012, which is why we're certain this one's going to be a classic. And not to go out on a limb here, but we suspect the winner of this one may very well be the band hoisting the championship trophy next week. No pressure or anything.

Is your favorite band still alive in the Final Four? Help carry them to the championship — or assist in shattering some dreams — by voting now. Polls close Sunday at midnight, so get cracking — we're so close to crowning a champ!

Vote for your favorite band, discuss and share on Facebook and Twitter in the MTV Musical March Madness interactive bracket!

MTV's 2012 Musical March Madness tournament reaches the Elite Eight! Voting runs until midnight ET on Thursday, March 29, and winners are determined by fan votes, so if your favorite act is still alive, it'll be up to you to guide them to glory. You can rally the troops on Twitter using the hashtag #MMM or by downloading one of our custom badges — but get ready, it only gets more difficult from here on out.

Read This Useful Advice About Commercial Real Estate | Real ...

You can send out a newsletter about commercial real estate, or regularly post new content on a social networking website. After completion of a transaction, you should work to cultivate an online presence.

Make sure you have the right access that has utilities on commercial properties. Your business may have unique utility needs, but at the very least, you probably require hookups for electric, sewer, water and most likely, gas.

Research your prospective brokers to see how experienced they are with the commercial market. Make sure that their particular business focus includes what you are interested in. Then if they meet the criteria you are looking for, you can agree to work with that broker exclusively.

Keep your goals in mind when viewing potential commercial real estate purchases. Will you lease the property out or conduct business there yourself? It will help you more easily find an appropriate piece of property to purchase if you know exactly what you plan to do with the property after you acquire it.

Know that the size of a property is important when you?re looking for a spot for a business that?s permanent. Look into properties that will allow your business to grow, otherwise you will be purchasing a new space in a couple of years.

Watch for motivated sellers. Find sellers, particularly those that want to get rid of a property below the market?s value. A motivated seller is the best indicator of a great deal.

Take into consideration the local unemployment levels, average income, and job market before investing in real estate. A home that is in a great area, like next to good schools and parks, and has jobs available, will have a higher value than surrounding properties.

A major threat to investors in commercial real estate comes from the fluctuation of interest rates. The economy makes it likely that a good loan today could be gone tomorrow, so it?s likely that an investor who waits too long to close a loan could end up having to pay much higher rates. Keep this in mind when shopping for property, and consider the long-term options.

Location is a very important part of commercial real estate. When investing in a property, consider what type of neighborhood it is located in. Compare this neighborhood to the growth of other similar areas. If you make an investment in real estate, it is in your best interest to ensure that your property is in an area that will still be growing in five to ten years.

Prior to listing your property for sale, you should first hire a reputable, professional inspector to go over the place. Any problems or necessary repair identified by a professional inspector should be addressed and fixed as soon as possible.

Conduct tours of potential properties. Look into having a professional contractor accompany you as you take a look at the properties you?ve been thinking about purchasing. After touring, feel free to begin negotiations or even make your preliminary proposal. Carefully look over any counteroffers you receive before you make your final choice, whatever that may be.

It is essential to develop a list of emergency maintenance service providers. One way to develop such a list is to ask current commercial investors who they use in the event of an emergency repair. Always keep this important contact information at hand, including average turnaround times. Your landlord should be able to provide you a list of emergency contacts so that you can map out a safe and well organized emergency plan, in case an emergency happens during normal business hours.

Commercial real estate can indeed be a huge source of profits. This being said, it takes money to make money, so it is important to protect yourself and your investment by putting in your maximum effort to each and every deal. This article should provide you with some tips and tricks that will help you succeed in commercial real estate.

Anti-apartheid icon Mandela's life now online

(AP) ? Click: South Africa's last white president speaks about his friendship with Nelson Mandela. Click: Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, two anti-apartheid icons, pose with Tutu's grandchildren. Click: Mandela offers a self-deprecating memory in a handwritten note.

At a news conference in Johannesburg Tuesday, Mandela's archivists and Google said their $1.25 million project to digitally preserve a record of the anti-apartheid leader's life is now online. The project was first announced a year ago.

Researchers ? and anyone else ? from around the world now have access to hundreds of documents, photographs and videos. The archive has been launched with more than 1,900 entries, and more are being added.

"The Mandela Digital Archive Project shows how the Internet can help preserve historical heritage and make it available to the world," Steve Crossan, director of the Google Cultural Institute, said Tuesday.

Similar Google projects have focused on the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Yad Vashem Holocaust materials.

Mandela, who spent 27 years in prison for fighting against racist white rule, became South Africa's first black president in 1994 and served one five-year term. He now is officially retired and last appeared in public in July 2010.

Mandela inaugurated his memory center in 2004 as part of his charity and development foundation. The center houses an archive and hosts conferences and other events to promote justice and reconciliation worldwide.

Verne Harris of the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory said seeing the efforts of his center and Google realized "is invigorating."

In one video, former President F.W. de Klerk, who shared the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize with Mandela for negotiating himself out of power, recalled being asked to address parliament alongside Mandela in 2004. It was the 10th anniversary of the day Mandela became South Africa's first black president. Mandela took de Klerk's arm as lawmakers applauded.

"It is, if you now look back, a symbol of how reconciliation can manifest itself," de Klerk said in one of a series of videos in which people reflect on encounters with Mandela.

A photograph on the archive site shows Tutu, his wife and their grandchildren with Mandela after a church service on the Tutus' 50th wedding anniversary. In a caption, Tutu's granddaughter Nyaniso Burris remembers shaking Mandela's hand that day when she was 8 and telling her grandfather, "I won't wash this hand for the rest of forever."

In lines of neat handwriting in blue ink on paper that could have been torn from a schoolgirl's notebook, Mandela muses on Valentine's Day, characteristically referring to himself in the third person. The 1995 note appears to be a draft of a letter to a young admirer, in which Mandela said his rural upbringing by illiterate parents left him "colossally ignorant" about simple things like a holiday devoted to romance.

"Moving to the cities one was gradually drawn into mainstream politics, and there was little room for upgrading oneself with information on such issues," Mandela wrote. "Only during the last five years did I receive Valentine cards and gifts."

Amazon Kindle store buy buttons vanish for hours

Maybe Lord Voldemort put a spell on Amazon.Com on Tuesday.

On the same day that Amazon started selling Harry Potter e-books in a landmark deal, buy buttons on the company's dominant Kindle e-book store disappeared for several hours.

Top-selling e-books, including "The Hunger Games" series and the "Fifty Shades" trilogy, instead had bigger green buttons saying "This title is not available for customers from: United States."

Several Amazon customers complained about the mysterious button disappearance on the company's online Kindle forum.

"What does this mean? Why am I seeing this message? I am from the United States. I want my readers who live in the United States to purchase this book. Any ideas why this is showing up?" someone wrote on the Kindle Direct Publishing online forum.

Amazon spokespeople did not respond to emails and phone messages seeking comment on Tuesday. However, a forum post from Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing unit said it was a "website issue" affecting the buy box for Kindle books and noted that it should be resolved "shortly."

94% Pina

All Critics (87) | Top Critics (22) | Fresh (82) | Rotten (5) | DVD (1)

A remarkable -- and likely enduring -- tribute to an artist committed to creating dance theater drawn from humanity's deepest physical and emotional reserves.

For anyone with an interest in dance, "Pina" is a must-see. For anyone not interested in contemporary dance, "Pina" is a should-see. It could change your mind.

Pina is a tribute of an artist by an artist, a friend to a friend. But its great genius comes from the mournful, as well as celebratory, reckoning of the performers Bausch pushed, collaborated with and inspired.

What might seem like a convenient bid for publicity - the first 3-D art-house film! - turns out to be the only logical way to showcase the action.

This meditation on movement and space, transportation and transcendence is not to be missed.

What the filmmaker has created is an inspired simulacrum - a jewel-box that contains more of Bausch's kinetic soul than film has any right to.

'Undefeated' won the Oscar, but the most truly inspiring of the Documentary Feature nominees is 'Pina.' I know next to nothing about dance, and I was mesmerized.

Mondern-dance documentary is visually dazzling but it doesn't make the slightest effort to invite the unconverted to the party.

Watching Pina is like being inside one of Bausch's surreal pieces.

Bring someone who doubts that movies can surprise us anymore. ... Bring somebody who isn't yet excited about stereoscopic cinema. They'll change their minds.

Most documentaries put us inside people's heads. The dazzling, experimental Pina puts us inside people's feet.

[An] utterly transfixing, exhilarating spectacle of bodies in motion.

The 3-D is so subtle, unobtrusive and low-key that at times I felt like I was watching the movie through a View-Master rather than the requisite plastic glasses. That's not meant as a knock.

"Pina" isn't just for dance fans or those curious about the latest in 3-D. It's a celebration of life.

An immersive moviegoing experience beyond imagination.

A unique and often sublime artistic experience, "Pina" is a 3-D dance film that immerses us in the movement, letting us feel that we could reach out and touch these dancers as they float past us.

Outsiders might have more difficulty comprehending Bausch's mastery, especially whacked up into bite-sized pieces of inscrutable emotion and abrupt movement.

Dance fans won't want to miss it, but be prepared to be frustrated almost as often as you're awed.

Exciting if elusive - appealing to dance enthusiasts

Wenders and the Tanztheater company have combined to offer a masterful tribute to Bausch's unique vision, one that's enhanced by 3D.

A spectacular show of movement and stagecraft.

Sans 3D, Pina becomes a more unified work of undisputed merits, a passionate, fitting tribute from one of Europe's preeminent filmmakers and documentarians.

Should You Use Internet Advertising for Your Business? | Business ...

Prospective clients (and even friends that own a business) often ask me, ?Pat, should I advertise my business on the internet??? They may even ask more specifically, ?Should I use Google AdWords for my business??

The answer to that question is? it depends.

It?s Not For Every Business

It depends in large part to the nature of their business.? Some businesses are not good candidates.? If you are in doubt, give us a call and we can do a quick assessment of your business and marketplace.? It is an expensive proposition to move forward simply on an assumption.

But many, if not most, businesses should definitely consider advertising on Google, or Yahoo or Microsoft Bing.

Why?

Consider that more and more people are turning to the internet to find answers to their questions, or solutions to their problems.? If YOU need a plumber, or your gutters cleaned, or your house painted, or your air conditioning isn?t working, where do you go?

You Can?t Argue With These Numbers

Did you know that the latest number I have heard tossed around is that 1.3 billion (with a B) searches occur EVERY DAY on the internet.? That number has increased a staggering 1,100% in the last four years!? That is only projected to Catching the right fishcontinue increasing.

If one lake has more fish tomorrow that it had yesterday, why wouldn?t you fish there?

Also consider that the people using a search engine are actually looking for you business.? They aren?t just driving down the highway and see a sign that advertises your business (yawn!).? They are actively looking for exactly what you offer.

Who wouldn?t want a piece of that action?

A Word Of Caution?

Even though internet advertising is an excellent (lucrative) option for businesses, there are many true stories of companies that have spent a fair amount of coin in an attempt to get more customers or clients? only to lose their shirts.

Internet advertising can be tricky? if you don?t know what you are doing.? Download my free report that will guide you?to navigate the treacherous waters so you can earn a 200-500% profit on your efforts.

No, I am not making that number up.? That is a very typical return for clients using our internet advertising services.

Roadside bombing kills 5 in Afghanistan

(AP) ? A roadside bomb detonated by remote control killed five people Saturday in southern Afghanistan, including a former Afghan senator and tribal leader who worked to foster peace and development.

The ex-lawmaker, Khairo Jan, was riding in a vehicle with three Afghan policemen, who served as his bodyguards, and another tribal leader from the area when the bomb exploded on the road as they passed, said Fareed Ayal, a spokesman for the Uruzgan province police chief.

Jan is an elder of the Popalzai tribe, the same tribe that Afghan President Hamid Karzai is from.

The Uruzgan governor's office said Jan worked to unify residents of the province to help bring peace to Afghanistan.

Ayal said the blast occurred about 1:30 p.m. local time about six kilometers (four miles) south of the provincial capital of Tirin Kot.

In the east, a NATO service member died Saturday as a result of a non-battle related injury, the international military coalition said. No other details were released.

On Friday, an Afghan civilian was killed when a NATO vehicle collided with another driven by a local resident in Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand province, the alliance said. The person killed was a passenger in the civilian vehicle. The international military coalition and Afghan officials are investigating the incident.

Obama taps public health expert for World Bank

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama on Friday nominated a Korean-American known for his work in fighting disease in impoverished countries to lead the World Bank, a job emerging economies are contesting for the first time.

Jim Yong Kim, 52, is president of Dartmouth College, an Ivy League school in New Hampshire, and former director of the Department of HIV/AIDS at the World Health Organization.

Despite the challenge from emerging nations - Nigerian Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and former Colombian finance minister Jose Antonio Ocampo were also nominated - the United States is expected to maintain its grip on the job, which it has held since the bank was founded after World War Two.

"He's worked from Asia to Africa to the Americas - from capitals to small villages," Obama said. "His personal story exemplifies the great diversity of our country and the fact that anyone can make it as far as he has as long as they're willing to work hard and look out for others."

The choice came as a surprise.

Washington's past picks for the World Bank presidency have had more standing in political circles and Kim's name had not surfaced in several media reports on potential nominees.

Okonjo-Iweala, a respected economist and diplomat, is likely to draw support from many emerging nations that want to see the bank focus more on helping their economies develop and less on traditional poverty-fighting aid. Her backing by Angola, Nigeria and South Africa was a rare example of unity among countries often at loggerheads.

Ocampo's nomination by Brazil also signaled the desire of emerging markets to have a competitive process as they move to try to upend the tradition of always having an American lead the World Bank and a European lead the International Monetary Fund.

The bank's current president, Robert Zoellick, steps down at the end of June.

"You will see more of a debate, an assessment of the merits of the different candidates and the direction of the bank," said Arvind Subramanian, a former IMF official. "It is not a slam dunk. It is not an obvious choice," he said of the U.S. nominee.

Washington, however, retains the largest single voting share at the World Bank and can expect the support of European nations and Japan, the bank's second-largest voting member.

Paul Farmer, a co-founder with Kim of the non-profit Partners in Health, which serves some of the world's poorest countries, said the nominee would bring to the post a real world understanding of poverty and a sense of purpose.

"A lot of people who live in poverty in the world today feel that the World Bank has stalled and needs?new vision," Farmer, the chairman of the Department of Global Health at Harvard University, told Reuters in Kigali, Rwanda. "One of his qualities is that boldness of vision."

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^>

NARROWING THE FIELD

U.S. economist Jeffrey Sachs, who had been put forward for the job by a group of small countries, withdrew and threw his support to Kim. He had cast his uphill candidacy as an effort to break Washington's penchant for political appointments.

A Canadian government source said Canada would back Kim and South Korea, his boyhood home, also signaled its support. But India said it wanted to consult the other so-called BRICS countries - Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa - before deciding, and Mexico also said it was keeping an open mind.

The rise of emerging economies such as China, India and Brazil has put pressure on the United States and Europe to throw open the selection process for both the bank and the IMF. Last year, all of the bank's 187 member countries agreed on a transparent, merit-based process.

The World Bank board of member countries has promised to make a decision by the time of the IMF and World Bank semi-annual meetings on April 21.

U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner advocated for Kim's nomination, White House spokesman Jay Carney said, adding that a number of candidates were considered, but not all were interested.

CHALLENGES AHEAD

The new World Bank chief will take over at a time when the euro zone's debt crisis is weighing on the global recovery, undercutting demand in the poorer nations that often rely on funding from the bank.

He or she will have to decide how best to deploy resources in a budget-cutting environment in which large bank shareholders, such as the United States, are demanding results, transparency and greater efforts to tackle corruption.

In the end, the choice may come down to political horse trading. Russia has refrained from publicly backing a non-U.S. candidate and has instead called for a greater role for emerging market countries in other top positions at global financial institutions. World Bank board sources have said a deal could arise in which developing and emerging economies win the top post at the bank's private-sector lender.

Kim, who holds both an M.D. and a Ph.D. from Harvard University, led a World Health Organization initiative that is credited with providing access to HIV treatment to millions of people in developing countries.

Dartmouth faculty gave Kim generally high marks, saying he dealt ably with the school's impaired balance sheet in the wake of the financial crisis. However, in February, 105 faculty called on him to do more to combat hazing after a student detailed abusive practices.

Some students faulted Kim for focusing too heavily on post-graduate programs to the detriment of undergraduate studies and using Dartmouth as a platform for higher aspirations.

"From the first year he got here there was a pretty general consensus that he was using Dartmouth as a stepping stone to get to something bigger," said Kurt Prescott, a 21-year-old senior.

Get a Data-Only Smartphone Plan by Using the SIM From Your New Verizon iPad

Verizon SIMIf you?ve ever wanted a data-only smartphone, and you own a new iPad on Verizon, an easy workaround will make it possible. CNET writer Jason Cipriani wondered what would happen if he took his iPad?s LTE Verizon SIM and stuck it in his Galaxy Nexus. The result, according to Cipriani, was that he immediately saw a data connection. ?I then tried to place a call from the Galaxy Nexus and it didn?t go through,? Cipriani said. ?Instead, I was prompted to add money to my ?prepaid account.? It literally is a data-only-plan. One thing to note, however, is that the hot-spot feature included with the iPad plan does not work on the Galaxy Nexus.? As Cipriani points out, activating a SIM through an iPad eliminates the hassle of a contract, meaning the option is there for folks who might prefer the freedom of a data-only smartphone.

Big earthquake rattles Mexico, no major damage

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - A major earthquake struck Mexico on Tuesday, unleashing panic as it damaged hundreds of buildings and caused homes in the capital to bounce like "trampolines".

Office workers fled into the street when the 7.4-magnitude quake shook Mexico City for more than a minute. Cell phone lines went down, buildings were evacuated, traffic snarled and the stock exchange had to suspend trading early.

At least 11 people were injured, the Interior Ministry said.

The quake hit hardest in the southwestern state of Guerrero, where around 800 houses were damaged, officials said. The state governor Angel Aguirre said he had reports of homes being knocked down, though state authorities could not confirm this.

The tremor was one of the strongest to hit the country since the devastating 8.1-magnitude earthquake of 1985, which killed thousands in Mexico City.

Mexico's interior ministry said the country would remain on high alert for the next 24 hours after 18 aftershocks to the quake were registered. Some were above magnitude 5.

Still, no deaths were reported on Tuesday and there were major disruptions to air travel or to oil installations. But it scared many residents and temporarily cut off electricity to 2.5 million users in the capital.

Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebrard said some rails of the subway system moved as a result of the tremor while leaks at three aqueducts feeding the eastern portion of the capital would leave hundreds of thousands of homes with no water for at least a day.

Martha Suarez, an Argentine living in Mexico City's Roma neighborhood said she had never known anything like it.

"My TV set fell over, the building felt like it was on a trampoline. This one was like no other I have felt before," Suarez said, holding her little dog close.

Scores of the houses damaged were in Ometepec, a town close to the epicenter of the quake in Guerrero, the state that is home to the popular Pacific beach resort Acapulco.

In neighboring Oaxaca, 68 mud-brick houses were damaged and at least five people were injured, one of them seriously, in the area around the town of Pinotepa Nacional near the Pacific coast, local emergency services said.

Some buildings in the capital's trendy district of Condesa were cracked by the earthquake, and residents raced out of buildings with young children and dogs in their arms.

"I swear I never felt one so strong, I thought the building was going to collapse," said Sebastian Herrera, 42, a businessman from a Mexico City neighborhood hit hard in 1985.

Television images showed part of a bridge collapsed onto a vehicle on the outskirts of Mexico City. Mayor Ebrard said no one was injured and that helicopter flyovers showed there was no sign of major damage in the capital.

President Felipe Calderon also said there were no reports of serious damage, and experts said the impact did not look severe.

Eqecat, a disaster modeling company whose software is used by insurers to predict exposure to natural disasters, estimated insured losses from the quake at less than $100 million.

FELT IN GUATEMALA

Fear gripped many Mexico City locals when the quake hit.

Caroline Kloesel, a German executive working in the Las Lomas neighborhood, said there was a stampede when people started fleeing the eighth floor of her building. "At some point, we got stuck and everyone started pushing. A large man had tripped (on the staircase) and fallen down. And because he was very big, they couldn't help him stand up so everyone started walking over him," she said.

Mexico City's international airport was operating normally and only a couple of flights to the United States were temporarily grounded, a spokesman said.

State oil company Pemex said all its installations on the Pacific coast were operating normally, including the country's largest 330,000-barrel-per-day capacity Salina Cruz refinery.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was magnitude 7.4 and aftershocks continued during the afternoon.

In Acapulco, schools were evacuated and some parents rushed to pick up their children, but there appeared to be no major damage to hotels or other buildings.

The White House, which has declined to confirm reports that President Barack Obama's daughter Malia was vacationing in Mexico, said the 13-year-old was safe.

The quake was felt as far away as Guatemala City.

A spokesman for Mexico City's health authorities said hospitals and clinics were operating normally although some patients were evacuated from damaged buildings.

Windies come up just short in Australia thriller

A thrilling third one-day international between West Indies and Australia at Arnos Vale Tuesday ended in a tie after Darren Sammy was run out with the Windies needing just one run from the last three balls to win.

Sammy had hit a boundary off the previous delivery to take West Indies to 220 with one wicket remaining, but a horrible mix-up with Kemar Roach led to Sammy being run out by Brett Lee as the Australians celebrated securing a rare tie.

But the Windies had reason to be happy too, having earlier appeared up against it at 78 for five, and the five-match series remains finely poised at one win apiece with the final two games to come in St Lucia on Friday and Sunday.

"I think we believed we could beat them," said Sammy at the end of a match watched by a packed crowd on a national holiday in Saint Vincent.

"We should have won today. Everyone played their part right down to the number 11.

"The discussion (with Roach ahead of the last ball) was that we were looking to run. I won't lay blame on anyone, it's just a shame we couldn't see out the win.

"The way we came back to get 220 was a great effort. The team believe we can beat Australia, and we will look to win the next two games.

"The pitch here was not conducive for stroke play but we do need to play some consistent cricket."

Australia captain Shane Watson, the tourists' leading bowler with figures of three for 30, was delighted his team managed to avoid a second defeat here in the space of three days but admitted that improvements must be made before Friday's next match.

"Little things here and there could have been improved," he said.

"We need to adapt and get better in these conditions.

"As a captain it is a learning experience playing in a tie but there are a lot of things to work on in the next two matches."

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Australia were indebted to a century stand between George Bailey and Mike Hussey as they reached 220 all out.

The pair reached their half-centuries in successive balls in the 39th over on their way to a fourth-wicket stand of 112.

Bailey made his maiden ODI half-century and went on to make 59 before being caught at square leg by Dwayne Bravo off the bowling of Marlon Samuels.

The older of the Hussey brothers kept the tourists' innings together and top-scored with 67 from 95 balls before being stumped by wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh

off another Samuels delivery.

He was named man of the match after the highest knock of the series so far in the third game played on a notoriously tough pitch.

Before that fourth-wicket stand, Australia had looked in trouble, with captain Shane Watson being run out for ten early on, and Matthew Wade being bowled by Sunil Narine for just two.

When David Warner was dismissed for 37, the tourists were on 58 for 3.

And after Samuels had ended that fourth-wicket stand, Australia's tail collapsed in dramatic fashion.

Australia slumped from 202 for four to 208 for nine, with Brett Lee, Clint McKay and Xavier Doherty all returning to the pavilion without scoring.

Daniel Christian managed 12 before the innings came to an end when he was given out lbw to a Sunil Narine delivery.

In reply, Kieran Powell, Samuels and Darren Bravo were all dismissed cheaply before Johnson Charles was caught by Christian off the bowling of Watson after making 45, the highest score of the West Indies innings.

Dwayne Bravo walked after managing just 13 but the hosts' middle order impressed, with big-hitting Kieron Pollard hammering in two fours and two sixes in a quick-fire 36 from 43 balls.

Pollard eventually went when he was caught by Nathan Lyon at long on off Doherty.

Clint Baugh (33) and Andre Russell (37) also starred before Narine was caught superbly by David Hussey at mid on from the bowling of Lee to leave the West Indies on 204 for 9 in the 48th over.

Still they should have seen out the win, but neither Sammy nor Roach were able to hold their nerve.

Baby Shower Cookie Recipes

What are good baby shower cookies? Biscotti, macaroons, cut out sugar cookies, or of course a creation from a good old nestle toll house cookie recipe. At a bridal shower I helped coordinate in Sonoma, CA a few years ago, the mother and grandmother of the bride, surprised her with platters and platters of Swedish cookies. They were all made from recipes that had been in the family for generations. Each baby shower cookie paired perfectly with the cake, and the heartfelt moments that we experienced with their lovely family that day, is why I love planning special events.

Stay on the lighter side. Being that showers are usually luncheons, it?s best to not serve desserts that are too heavy. Small, light and bite sized baby shower cookies work best, especially because cookies are often served with the cake or cupcakes. The rule of thumb is to keep it light!

Non-messy is better. Dessert is often served while the mom-to-be is opening her gifts, so keeping the dessert non-messy and simple is always what I advise my clients. You don?t want chocolate or sticky fingers touching the newborn gifts after the guest of honor has passed them around the room. Although I love chocolate (who doesn?t) it?s best to stay away from messy chocolate or any other messy cookies for a baby shower.

Bernanke revisits college as guest lecturer at GW

(AP) ? Students began trickling in early. Some dressed up in button-down shirts. Nervous chatter and fidgeting arose around the room.

And then in walked Professor Ben Bernanke, also known as the chairman of the Federal Reserve.

The 30 undergraduates at George Washington University sent up a round of applause. It was, they'd been told beforehand, "appropriate, even encouraged, to politely applaud" Tuesday's guest lecturer.

Few needed prompting. They were about to hear from perhaps the world's best-qualified person to lecture their class, titled "Reflections on the Federal Reserve and Its Place in Today's Economy."

"We have a chance to speak one-on-one with a guy who's arguably one of the most important people in the world," said Sameer Iqbal, a junior finance major from Potomac, Md.

"He's taking time out of his schedule to speak to 30 college kids? I think that's awesome."

Also, unusual. In giving the first of his four scheduled lectures to the GW class, Bernanke became the first sitting Fed chairman ever to help teach a college course.

Reporters and news photographers nearly matched the number of students. Bags were searched. And security personnel stood guard.

Michael Feinberg, a senior finance major, said he normally doesn't get to class a half-hour early. But "normally I don't have my bag sniffed by a bomb-sniffing dog."

Wade Harris, a junior finance major from Melbourne, Fla., made sure to wear a tie under his sweater.

"Opportunities like this are one of the main reasons why people come to GW," he said. "Regardless of what your major is, it's relevant to the world we live in."

Tuesday's lecture focused on U.S. central banking dating to the panics of the 19th century and early 20th century, which led to the Fed's creation in 1913. The second lecture, on Thursday, will involve the central bank's actions after World War II.

In the final two, on March 27 and 29, Bernanke will review the roots of the 2008 financial crisis and the Fed's response to the crisis and the recession that followed.

Anyone can view Bernanke's lectures live (at www.ustream.tv/channel/federalreserve). The Fed will maintain the four one-hour lectures on its site for later viewing.

The number of people viewing Tuesday's lecture at the Fed's website held steady at about 3,300 throughout Bernanke's class.

The students seemed most engaged when the Fed chairman tried to convey macroeconomic concepts in real-world terms. He drew some laughs in describing the pitfalls of a gold standard for a nation's currency.

It is costly, Bernanke noted dryly, to dig gold up in "South Africa or somewhere" and "put back into another hole."

The lectures give the Fed chairman a chance to reprise the role of professor he played for more than two decades, first at Stanford and then at Princeton, where he eventually chaired the economics department.

He clearly enjoys that role. On Tuesday, Bernanke wasn't scheduled to field questions. Yet he stayed to do so, and he called on students by their first names, reading from the names plates in front of them.

Mostly, students listen intently to the lecture, which Bernanke delivered with the aid of a 50-slide PowerPoint presentation. The Fed chairman provided a tour through the history of central banking, beginning with the first central banks in Sweden, established in 1688.

Bernanke also reviewed the causes and the Fed's response to the Great Depression of the 1930s. During his years as a college professor, Bernanke was considered one of the country's leading experts on the Depression.

Some students acknowledged after class that they were a bit intimidated at first. But Bernanke put them at ease, they said, and they recognized the value of his insights.

"It's like taking basketball practice from Michael Jordan," said Dan Wright, a sophomore political science major from Cincinnati.

Bernanke's staff had approached GW late last year about the possibility of allowing Bernanke to give some lectures. The university and the Federal Reserve are within blocks of each other in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington.

GW assembled the class from 80 applicants who wrote essays on what they hoped to learn.

The GW lectures allow Bernanke a way to expand his mission of demystifying the Fed. As part of that campaign, Bernanke became the first Fed chief to hold regular news conferences and conduct town-hall meetings. The Fed this month also launched a Twitter channel ? (at)federalreserve.

Tim Fort, a business professor who specializes in ethics, developed the GW course in consultation with Bernanke's staff. Beyond Bernanke's lectures, Fort has enlisted about a dozen GW faculty members to help teach the class.
