BIRKDALE, England (freepressreleases ) September 29, 2011 ? Due to the current state of economy, online business opportunities have become more and more attractive to people who want to have a source of income even at the comfort of their homes or through small investments. One of the most popular techniques of obtaining earnings is by doing surveys in behalf of companies or businesses.

Online Paid Surveys: Understanding How These Work

These are also known as standard assessments utilized by around 500 companies and businesses to gain significant information about their market. These are integral in order to determine whether their products and services, which are delivered in modern way, are generating sales or not. As a matter of fact, these are already used by telemarketers or survey agents even before internet become so popular. More often, consumers found in stores, malls, and households are targets of these surveys.

Nowadays, due to the impact of legislation, surveys become less effective in the research methods of companies. In order to surpass the limits of privacy infringement laws, and doubtful validity of results due to unwilling respondents, companies and businesses like eBay, Walmart, Nike, Amazon and others resort to online paid surveys. With million dollars allocated for internet consumer-evaluation, companies directly hire and compensate eager respondents. Companies have also been more inclined to these because of lesser costs (no middlemen) and more reliable results.

Question of Legitimacy:Ways to Avoid Paid Survey Scam

Due to peoples need of finding sources of income, they fall for scammers and fraudulent acts by some companies. In order to prevent being tricked by masked marketing agencies and find genuine payers, it is important to remember the following things:

- Paid Survey Scam requests respondents to buy the companys products or services, while legitimate surveys are free.

- In finding legal surveys through search engines like Google, over 1.23 million results will appear from keyword phrase online paid surveys. Among those, 100 to 200 companies pay.

- It will be helpful to check out individuals or organizations who verify companies offering paid online surveys. Most of them have lists of reliable companies which are sure to pay respondents.

- Lastly, a Paid Survey Scam can be avoided by signing up as members of database-offering organizations. Due to the amount of work necessary to pre-qualify, test, and update lists of legitimate survey companies, databases provide services for membership fees of $50 or less. Lists include names of companies, compensation details, and descriptions of tasks.

Generating Income: Five Essential Elements Necessary to Get Paid

Even at the comfort of home, online surveys are simple and easy businesses for anybody. Such surveys will eliminate the hassle of traveling to and from the office or adjust to whole day schedules. Five things are important: a computer, a working e-mail account, internet connection, membership in a database of legal surveys provider, and work hours to answer surveys in e-mail.

Online paid surveys are good options to replace fulltime jobs and competitive source of income especially online focus groups (high paying job). Other than the benefits these offer respondents, survey jobs even allow freedom to control work schedules and give comments on products and services like restaurants, cars, movie trailers, etc.

Young and Old at Odds on Same-Sex Relationships | Psych Central ...

Young and Old at Odds on Same-Sex RelationshipsA new University of Chicago study shows that although public attitudes are still sharply divided, homosexuality is gaining acceptance in our culture.

Researchers discovered Americans overwhelmingly support basic civil liberties and freedom of expression for gays and lesbians. This finding is in addition to a plurality of Americans who now approve of same-sex marriage.

Moreover, researchers say younger generations are leading the way in this cultural transformation.

The rise in support for same-sex marriage has been especially dramatic over the last two decades with acceptance growing from 11 percent approval in 1988 to 46 percent in 2010.

The report is based on findings of the latest General Social Survey, conducted in 2010 with a cross sample of more than 2,000 people.

?There is a large generation gap on the issue [of same-sex marriage],? said Tom W. Smith, Ph.D., author of the report, ?Public Attitudes Toward Homosexuality.?

While 64 percent of those under 30 back same-sex marriage, only 27 percent of those 70 and older support it.

The generational divide extends to acceptance of homosexuality. In 2010, 26 percent of the people surveyed who were under 30 said they felt same-sex behavior is ?always wrong,? while 63 percent of the people aged 70 and older held that opinion.

This generation chasm results in sharply divided public attitudes on the issue. Although 44 percent of the people surveyed felt that sexual relations between two adults of the same sex is always wrong, another 41 percent thought such relations were ?not wrong at all.?

?Just 11 percent were in the middle, saying it was either ?almost always wrong? or ?wrong only sometimes.? Public opinion is thus highly polarized on this issue, with few people sharing the middle ground,? Smith said.

The change toward acceptance of homosexuality began in the late 1980s after years of remaining relatively constant. In 1973, 70 percent of people felt same-sex relations are ?always wrong,? and in 1987, 75 percent held that view.

By 2000, however, that number dropped to 54 percent and by 2010 was down to 43.5 percent.

SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) ? Distrust and frustration loomed over Chile's education reform debate Thursday as student and government leaders began long-awaited negotiations while tens of thousands of protesters challenged police in the streets.

Both sides were angry over unmet demands after five months of protests that have shut down universities and some secondary schools, but they decided to begin talks anyway at the Education Ministry.

Outside, students kept protesting and several thousand broke away to clash with police, who used water cannons and tear gas. Organizers said as many as 100,000 young people marched in Santiago.

Officials said the two sides talked for more than two hours and agreed to meet again Wednesday to discuss student demands that the government provide free public education.

Giorgio Jackson, a representative for university students, said only that the "meeting was complex."

Strong differences remained over the government's insistence that students return to classrooms, a demand that student leaders have rejected. President Sebastian Pinera has warned that students could lose their scholarships and place in school if classes do not resume.

"We're not going to do favors for those who don't return to their campuses," said Education Minister Felipe Bulnes, who participated in the negotiations.

Leaders of various university and secondary school students groups and the president of the teachers union also took part.

Later in the day, Pinera said the 2012 budget includes $11.65 billion for education. He said that represented a 7.2 percent increase compared with a 5 percent rise for the total budget.

Now the case, here goes:
Title: Falcon Computer

A small group of managers at Falcon Computer met regularly on Wednesday mornings to develop a statement capturing what they considered to be the ?Falcon culture?. Their discussions were wide-ranging, covering what they thought their firm?s culture was, what it should be, and how to create it. They were probably influenced by other firms in their environment, since they were located in the Silicon Valley area of California.

Falcon Computer was a new firm, having been created just eight months earlier. Since the corporation was still in the start-up phase, managers decided that it would be timely to create and instill the type of culture they thought would be most appropriate for their organization. After several weeks of brainstorming, writing, debating and rewriting, the management group eventually produced a document called ?Falcon Values?, which described the culture of the company as they saw it. The organizational culture statement covered such topics as a treatment of customers, relations among work colleagues, preferred style of social communication, the decision-making process, and the nature of the working environment.

Peter Richards reads over the Falcon Values statement shortly after he was hired as a software trainer. After observing managerial and employee behaviors at Falcon for a few weeks, he was struck by the wide discrepancy between the values expressed in the document and what he observed as actual practice within the organization. For example, the Falcon valued document contained statements such as this: ?Quality: Attention to detail is our trademark; our goal is to do it right the first time. We intend to deliver defect-free products and services to our customers on the date promised.? However, Richards had already seen shipping reports showing that a number of defective computers are being shipped to customers. And his personal experience supported his worst fears. When he borrowed four brand-new Falcon computers from the shipping room for use in a training class, he found that only two of them started up correctly without additional technical work on his part.

Another example of the difference between the Falcon values document and actual practice concerned this statement on communication: ?Managing by personal communication is a part of the Flacon way. We value and encourage open, direct, person-to-person communication as a part of our daily routine.? Executives bragged about how they arranged their chair in a circle to show equality and to facilitate open communications whenever they met to discuss the Falcon values document. Richards had heard the ?open communication? buzzword a lot since coming to Falcon, but he hadn?t seen much evidence of such communication. As a matter of fact, all other meetings used a more traditional layout, with top executives at the front of the room. Richards believed that the real organizational culture that was developing at Falcon characterized by secrecy and communications that followed the formal chain of command. Even the Falcon values document, Richards was told, had been created in secret.

Richards soon became disillusioned, He confided in a coworker one afternoon that ?the Falcon values document was so at variance with what people saw every day that very few of them took it seriously.? Employees quickly l

Kodak shares plunge as bankruptcy fears escalate

Investors dumped Eastman Kodak's stock Friday amid fears that the photography pioneer is headed toward bankruptcy.

After its stock lost more than half its value in a volatile day of trading, Kodak tried to paint a rosier picture. "Kodak is committed to meeting all of its obligations and has no intention of filing for bankruptcy," the company said in a statement. The reassurance lifted Kodak shares in extended trading, but the rebound wasn't enough to undo the damage sustained in a brutal week for a hallowed name in U.S. business.

The Wall Street Journal rattled Kodak's already jittery shareholders with a Friday report that the company has hired Jones Day, a law firm that dispenses advice on bankruptcies and other restructuring alternatives.

Kodak confirmed the Jones Day hiring in its statement, describing the firm as one of several advisers helping its management turn around the Rochester, New York, company after losing nearly $1.8 billion since 2007. "It is not unusual for a company in transformation to explore all options and to engage a variety of outside advisers," Kodak said.

Friday's news followed a Kodak disclosure earlier this week that the company was borrowing $160 million from a $400 million line of credit.

The daisy chain of events convinced some investors that Kodak is running out of cash as it scrambles to adapt to the age of digital imagery.

Eastman Kodak Co. shares plunged 91 cents, or 54 percent, to close at 78 cents per share. The stock regained 35 cents in extended trading after management defused the bankruptcy speculation. The shares stood at $2.38 at the beginning of the week.

The selling was so intense during Friday's regular session that the shares temporarily stopped trading under the New York Stock Exchange's automated controls. At one point, Kodak's stock sagged to a new low of just 54 cents.

After 131 years in business, Kodak finds itself on shaky ground largely because of the shift to digital cameras. That change, coupled with tougher foreign competition, has undercut sales of the film that made Kodak famous.

To survive, the company has been mining its patent portfolio for additional cash. Since 2008, Kodak has pocketed nearly $2 billion in royalties and licensing fees. In July, Kodak hired investment bankers Lazard Ltd. to sell about 1,100 digital-imaging patents.

The question now is whether those measures will be enough to keep Kodak afloat. The company had $957 million in cash as of June 30, down from $1.6 billion at the start of the year.
