Vance Publishing names vice president
LENEXA, Kan. ? Shawn Etheridge has joined Vance Publishing Corp. as vice president and publishing director. He will have responsibility for several of the company?s leading brands, including The Packer.
Etheridge is based at the Lenexa offices of Vance Publishing, which is the headquarters for The Packer. He oversees the company?s produce division, which includes Red Book Credit Services, Greenbook Data Services, Doane Advisory Services, AgProfessional, AgriTalk, Produce Retailer, The Grower, and Citrus & Vegetable.
?While the brands are unique and targeted to their respective markets, they serve overlapping audiences within the agriculture community and share many of the same customers,? said Peggy Walker, president of Vance Publishing.
Etheridge said this is an exciting time to join the organization, especially in the produce division.
?I?m proud to be joining a talented group of people, a broad set of leading news products and an iconic brand in The Packer,? said Etheridge.
?This is an exciting time in our history as we expand our footprint to include new and deeper services for the fresh produce industry.?
Walker said she is confident Etheridge can meet the challenges of the job. As the Vance produce division enhances its digital presence and The Packer debuts its Midwest Produce Show in Chicago in August, Walker said Etheridge?s skills and experience will help staff at all levels.
Walker said Etheridge has a proven track record of growing revenue, profit and market share from his days as senior vice president at Penton Media, a global provider of business information products and services to many industries. In that job he handled strategic and financial planning for the aviation, transportation and information data services divisions. He was responsible for 210 employees in eight regional offices.
Immediately prior to joining Vance Publishing, Etheridge was chief executive officer and chief operating officer of Cool Creek Solutions, a privately held information management enterprise providing cloud-based employee benefit program administration and services to large employers.
Etheridge earned a bachelor?s degree in economics and a master?s degree in business administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
