Stamford live- and video-action promoter WWE sees a future for its content viewed on mobile phones and other nontraditional outlines with the addition of a former TV network executive with a deep background in direct marketing.
WWE said Tuesday it named Stuart U. Goldfarb, since June president and CEO of Atrinsic Inc., a specialist in direct-to-consumer subscriptions of online and mobile content, to its board of directors.
Goldfarb, 57, will also serve as a member of WWE's audit committee.
From 2001 to 2009, the former NBC executive was CEO of Direct Brands Inc., which markets music, DVDs and books, with household brands such as Columbia House, BMG Music, Doubleday Book Club, among others.
"He brings broad marketing and operational experience across a wide range of distribution platforms, including cable television and the Internet," WWE Chairman and CEO Vincent K. McMahon said in a statement.
Goldfarb also sits on the board of Atrinsic and Vitacost.com. He graduated from Adelphi University with a bachelor's degree and has a law degree from Hofstra University School of Law.
